Rob Henderson, a veteran of the US Air Force, is a Ph.D. student in evolutionary and social psychology at the University of Cambridge. He also got his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Yale. His writing has appeared in worldwide newspapers like the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Quillette. Currently, he is writing a memoir to be published in late 2022.

Commentary/Criticism: Dr. Peterson continues to deliver the sort of in-depth information that is pertinent to today’s society with a perspective that is unchallengeable. As a Clinical Psychologist, his grasp on society issues, and in particularly human behaviors within today’s society is astoundingly insightful regarding human behavior. In this episode he invites a brilliant PhD student and scholar Rob Henderson, who brings his own insight on behaviors and actions of persons and their social interactions related to luxury beliefs and sexual politics and then gender beliefs around those two subjects.
Important to Dating Refinery – They discuss Polyamory, Tinder, and the luxury belief of polyamory trickling down from University into the working class in this episode.
-There is a particularly important discussion around Tinder as a dating app and the hyper-successful, predatorily behaviors that this app can bring from some very select men, and the hypergamous actions of women who only swipe right on around 4% of profiles.
-Women are hypergamous. Women tend to date across and up when looking at success hierarchies. Men date across and down.
-Women are more selective than men. They look to date men that are about 4 years older, cross culturally, men who manifest success, that are competent, generous, honest, intelligent, handsome, personable, conscientious, open, and for someone who can provide. Women put themselves at risk more.
-The typical male experience on dating apps is one of rejection. Being rejected more than being accepted by a far margin.
In this episode, they also discuss ghosting as a psychopathic conquest strategy. The apps cultivate this psychopathic pattern. What happens if you do this multiple times to someone, you are damaging yourself. In perspective of the vulnerable dark triad which comprises three related and similar constructs: vulnerable narcissism, sociopathy, and borderline personality disorder or Machiavellianism, sub-clinical narcissism, and sub-clinical psychopathy. Lesser educated women tend to experience more negative interactions than educated women as a social class divide. It warps society as they are more susceptible to psychopaths.

43:37 minutes. Some dating apps will seed fake profiles with attractive women. They will intentionally match with men who recently created profiles and interact with them with simple messages like how are you, etc. then no longer responds (these are automated mechanisms) to give them a hit, like taste of a drug to create a sense of what could be or a possibility. They liken it to giving a hit of a drug and refer to it as Chasing the Dragon. Giving them a taste of that high and they will be chasing it the rest of their lives.
They also relate the impact of luxury beliefs from those who can afford to fail on the different socioeconomic classes. In particular, the impact on polyamory on lower classes who cannot afford to recover from them i.e., if a woman ends up pregnant at 18 for instance.
